Staff Accountant

The Staff Accountant will be a key member of the Accounting Team, supporting the monthly
close process through journal entry preparation, account reconciliations, and general ledger
maintenance across various areas of the business. We are looking for an individual who can
create efficiencies and work independently, with a strong understanding of accounting
principles.
Core Responsibilities
As a key contributor to the monthly close process, you will:
● Prepare and post journal entries across assigned areas of the general ledger, including
accruals, reclassifications, and recurring entries.
● Own monthly balance sheet reconciliations for assigned accounts, including bank,
intercompany, prepaids, and other accounts as needed. Investigate and resolve
reconciling items timely.
● Analyze general ledger accounts to identify and record necessary accruals, adjustments,
and reclassifications.
● Support payroll-related accounting, including reconciliation of benefits allocations,
workers compensation accruals, PTO liabilities, and other non-compensation payroll
entries.
● Collaborate with the management team to ensure timely completion of tasks aligned with
weekly and period-end close schedules.
● Assist with financial statement inquiries at both the store and corporate levels.
● Compile schedules and supporting documentation for internal and external audit
requests.
● Take on additional process ownership as the team evolves, with potential exposure to
areas such as lease accounting, fixed assets, or other GL functions.
● Contribute to special projects, ad hoc analyses, and reporting initiatives in collaboration
with the management team.
Skills Required
● Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
● CPA or CPA track is not required but is a plus.
● Demonstrated proficiency in Excel, including advanced functions, with the ability to
quickly adapt to new software programs.
● Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to convey complex
information clearly and effectively.
● Strong attention to detail and a commitment to producing accurate, high-quality work.
● Thrives in a collaborative team environment, assisting colleagues in troubleshooting
issues and overcoming challenges.
● Willingness to dedicate the hours required to meet deadlines in a fast-paced, deadline-
driven profession.
● Candidates must be available to work onsite in the Los Angeles office at least four days
per week.
Experience Desired
● 2–3 years of accounting experience, preferably with multi-unit industries.
● Minimum 1 year of experience with a heavy focus on general ledger accounting.
● Experience with Oracle Fusion or other large ERP systems preferred.
● Prior experience with multi-entity or multi-location accounting a plus.
● Prior experience with financial reporting a plus.
● Interest or experience in leveraging AI, automation, or other tools to drive process
improvements is a plus.
